“For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.” — Psalm 62:1

SOUNDING
David speaks about a kind of rest that goes deeper than physical recovery. He says his soul finds rest in God alone. That word “alone” is important. It reveals that David has learned something through pressure, conflict, and uncertainty. Real rest cannot ultimately be found in achievement, approval, success, comfort, or control.

The soul keeps searching for stability in things that constantly shift. Accomplishments fade quickly. People’s opinions change. Circumstances remain unpredictable. Even good things become exhausting when they are forced to carry the weight of your peace. David recognizes that only God is steady enough to hold the full weight of the soul.

This kind of rest comes through trust. It grows when a person stops carrying what was never meant to be carried alone. It is not passive resignation but active surrender. David describes his soul waiting in silence before God, no longer scrambling for security elsewhere.

That does not mean life suddenly becomes easy. It means the center of gravity changes. Rest becomes possible because God remains constant even when everything else moves. The soul settles not because every problem is solved, but because it is anchored in Someone stronger than the problems themselves.

BEARING
Deep rest grows when trust in God becomes greater than the need to control everything yourself.

PRAYER
Lord, teach my soul to rest in You instead of searching for peace in things that cannot sustain me.

DROP IN
