“For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the LORD, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel.” — Ezra 7:10
SOUNDING
Ezra arrives in Jerusalem during a time of rebuilding. The temple has been restored, but the spiritual life of the people needs direction. Ezra steps into that space not first as a leader with authority, but as a man who has already shaped his life around God’s Word.
Scripture describes his approach with clarity. He set his heart to study the Law of the Lord. This was not casual reading or occasional exposure. It was intentional, focused attention on understanding what God had said. But Ezra did not stop there. He committed himself to practice what he learned. Truth moved from information into action. It shaped how he lived, how he thought, and how he responded.
Then it extended further. Ezra taught others. What had formed him began to flow outward. His influence was not built on position alone, but on a life that was aligned with what he taught. There was consistency between what he knew, what he lived, and what he shared.
This pattern still matters. Knowledge without practice becomes hollow. Practice without sharing remains limited. When all three are present, a life begins to carry weight. What God teaches you is not meant to stay contained. It is meant to shape you and then reach others through you.
BEARING
A life shaped by God’s Word grows through understanding, obedience, and sharing.
