“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.” — 2 Chronicles 16:9
SOUNDING
This statement is spoken to King Asa during a moment of misplaced trust. Earlier in his life, Asa had depended on God and experienced victory. But later, when faced with pressure, he turns to a political alliance instead of seeking the Lord. The prophet Hanani confronts him and reminds him of what he has forgotten.
God is not distant or disengaged. He is actively looking across the earth, searching for people whose hearts are fully aligned with Him. Not perfect people, but people who trust Him, depend on Him, and remain committed when circumstances become uncertain.
The promise is direct. God strengthens those people. His power is not random. It is directed toward those who are willing to rely on Him instead of substituting their own solutions. Asa had access to that strength but chose another path, and the consequence was unnecessary struggle.
This verse reveals something steady about God’s character. He is attentive. He sees clearly. He responds to devotion. A life that is fully turned toward Him becomes a place where His strength is experienced in real and tangible ways.
BEARING
