“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” — Psalm 27:1

SOUNDING
David speaks these words in a context where fear would have been reasonable. He had enemies, uncertainty, and real threats against his life. Yet instead of focusing on what surrounded him, he anchors himself in who God is.

He describes God in three ways. God is his light, bringing clarity when the path is unclear. God is his salvation, providing rescue when danger is real. God is his stronghold, offering security when everything else feels unstable. Each of these images reflects a different way God meets him in the middle of pressure.

David’s confidence does not come from the absence of problems. It comes from the presence of God. He is not denying reality. He is defining it differently. The question is not whether there are things to fear. The question is who stands with him in the middle of those things.

This is what shapes his response. Fear loses its grip when it is placed next to the reality of God’s character. The more clearly David sees who God is, the less control fear has over him.

BEARING
Confidence grows when your view of God becomes greater than what you are facing.

PRAYER
Lord, help me see You clearly so that fear does not define how I respond to what is in front of me.

DROP IN
When fear begins to rise today, say this verse out loud and let it reset your focus.
