“The LORD drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.” — Exodus 14:21
SOUNDING
After Moses stretches out his hand over the sea, the miracle does not arrive in a single explosive moment. Scripture says the Lord sends a strong east wind that blows all night. While Israel waits in the dark, with fear still hanging in the air and Pharaoh’s army somewhere behind them, God is already at work. The path they will walk in the morning is being prepared in the unseen hours of the night.
That detail matters. We often imagine miracles as instant, dramatic events, but this one unfolds slowly. The wind pushes the water back inch by inch, yet no one can yet see the finished result. God is creating a future path long before Israel ever steps onto it. The people may not understand what is happening, but heaven is already moving.
Many of God’s works begin this way. Movement starts long before results appear. Progress takes shape in places you cannot yet see. The night may feel quiet and unchanged, but God may already be pushing back the waters in ways that only become visible later. What feels like waiting may actually be preparation.
