“Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today.” — Exodus 14:13
SOUNDING
Israel has just left Egypt, but freedom immediately hits a wall. Pharaoh changes his mind and sends his army after them. Behind them are chariots and soldiers. In front of them is the Red Sea. The people panic because the situation looks final. There is nowhere to run and nothing they can do to change it. What looked like deliverance suddenly feels like a trap.
Into that fear, Moses speaks words that feel almost impossible in the moment: “Fear not. Stand firm. See the salvation of the LORD.” Israel cannot solve this problem. They cannot outrun the army or split the sea. The point of the moment is not their ability but God’s. Before the waters ever move, God asks for something first: trust, not frantic effort, not desperate strategy, but trust.
Some moments in life require action. Some require courage to step forward. But there are also moments when the most faithful thing you can do is to stand steady and watch God work. Israel did not part the sea. God did. Their role was to remain where He placed them long enough to see what He would do next.
BEARING
When your situation leaves no human way forward, it may be the exact place where God intends to show His power.
PRAYER
LORD, steady my heart when fear rises and teach me to trust You in situations I cannot control.
DROP IN
Name one situation where you feel trapped between pressure behind you and uncertainty ahead. Place it before God and ask Him to show you how to stand firm today.
