“They did not listen to Moses, because of their broken spirit and harsh slavery.” — Exodus 6:9
SOUNDING
Moses obeys God and delivers the promise of freedom, but the people cannot receive it. Their labor has intensified. Pharaoh has tightened the pressure. Scripture says they did not listen because of their broken spirit. Years of oppression have worn them down so deeply that hope feels unsafe. When suffering becomes normal, promise can feel unrealistic.
This moment reveals something honest about the human heart. Discouragement does not always come from rebellion. Often it comes from exhaustion. When the soul is depleted, even good news feels heavy. Yet God does not rebuke them for their inability to respond. He does not withdraw the promise. He continues moving toward their deliverance even while they struggle to believe it.
There are seasons when encouragement does not land as intended and vision feels muted. Scripture makes room for that reality. God’s faithfulness does not depend on your emotional strength. He keeps working toward freedom even when you are too tired to move toward Him.
BEARING
God’s commitment to your freedom does not weaken when your strength does. In fact, he is at His best when you are at your worst.
PRAYER
Great comforter, sustain me when weariness makes hope difficult.
