“It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.” — Genesis 41:16
SOUNDING
After years in prison, Joseph is suddenly summoned to stand before Pharaoh. The most powerful ruler in the region has had a troubling dream, and no one can interpret it. In a single moment, Joseph is pulled from confinement, cleaned up, and brought into a royal court. This is the kind of moment that could redefine a life. One conversation could restore his freedom, his status, and his future. Humanly speaking, everything now hangs on how Joseph presents himself.
Pharaoh asks if Joseph can interpret the dream. It is the perfect opening to promote himself, to leverage his gift, to secure his release. Instead, Joseph answers with clarity and restraint. “It is not in me.” He does not deny the gift he carries, but he refuses to root his identity in it. He places the focus where it belongs. “God will give the answer.” Joseph has learned something in the rough years that cannot be learned in comfort. Gifts can open doors, but character determines what happens when they do. His confidence is real, but it is anchored in God rather than in self.
This moment reveals a deep formation inside Joseph. Suffering did not hollow him out. Waiting did not make him desperate for recognition. He stands before power without needing to grasp for it. When God elevates a life, self-promotion becomes unnecessary. Humility steadies influence and protects the soul from being consumed by the very success it once desired. Joseph’s rise begins not with brilliance, but with grounded humility before God.
BEARING
Influence that lasts is rooted in humility before God, not in the need to prove yourself.
PRAYER
Jesus, anchor my identity in You rather than in what I can do. Let humility shape how I carry every opportunity You give.
DROP IN
Do one good thing today without explaining it, posting it, or seeking recognition. Let it remain between you and God.
