“Only remember me, when it is well with you… and please do me the kindness to mention me to Pharaoh.” — Genesis 40:14
SOUNDING
Joseph has been faithful, even in places he never chose. Betrayed by his brothers, sold, falsely accused, and now in jail. Inside the prison, he does what he has always done. He serves, pays attention, and uses the gifts God gave him. Even in a place that feels like a dead end. When Pharaoh’s cupbearer and baker land in prison, Joseph notices their distress and interprets their dreams. The cupbearer will be restored. Before he leaves, Joseph makes one simple request. Remember me. Mention me. Do not let me disappear in here.
It is a deeply human moment. Joseph is not detached from his suffering, nor does he pretend the injustice does not ache. The guy wants out of this situation, and then for a moment, it looks like it might happen. The interpretation proves true. The cupbearer is restored to Pharaoh’s side. Then Scripture records one quiet line that carries weight: the cupbearer forgets Joseph. Days turn into months, those months into two full years.
Nothing looks like progress, but everything is being aligned. If Joseph is released too early, he misses the moment when Pharaoh dreams and needs someone who can interpret what no one else can. The delay that feels cruel is actually perfect. Joseph is not forgotten by God. He is being held in place until the exact moment his life will intersect with purpose. Human memory fails easily. God’s attention never does. Even in silence, God is not absent. Even in delay, God is not late.
BEARING
Seasons that feel like neglect are often seasons of alignment. God’s timing is not hurried or careless. He does not forget where He has placed you or what He intends to do through you.
PRAYER
Lord, steady my heart in seasons that feel delayed or overlooked. Help me trust that You are working even when nothing seems to be moving.
DROP IN
When impatience rises today, pause and say quietly: God has not forgotten where I am.
