“And he brought him outside and said, ‘Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.’ Then he said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’” — Genesis 15:5
SOUNDING
When Abram starts to doubt and grows restless, he begins to whine, asking God for more confirmation of His promises. God does not lecture Abram. He relocates him. He brings him outside the tent, beyond the limits of his current view, and lifts his eyes. Abram had been staring at what was not happening. No son. No progress. No proof. God changes the frame before He addresses the doubt.
This moment is not about astronomy. It is about perspective. Abram’s faith is not failing because God lacks power. It is straining because Abram’s vision has shrunk to match his circumstances. God expands the horizon so Abram can remember who is making the promise.
God still works this way. When life starts feeling capped or boxed in, God invites you to lift your eyes. Not to escape reality, but to remember who is writing the story. His promises were never meant to fit inside small spaces.
BEARING
God restores faith by expanding perspective, not by shrinking the promise.
PRAYER
Lord, lift my eyes when my vision has narrowed to what is missing.
DROP IN
