“But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, ‘Where are you?’” — Genesis 3:9

SOUNDING

After humanity’s first sin, God’s response is startling in its gentleness. He doesn’t storm into the garden with accusations or anger. He asks one question: “Where are you?” It’s not a demand for explanation…it’s an invitation to come out of hiding. Sin pushes us into the shadows. Shame makes us shrink back. Fear makes us quiet. But God steps toward us, not away. His question isn’t about geography; it’s about honesty. It’s God saying, I’m here. Are you?

Most of us know what it feels like to duck into spiritual corners. Maybe you’ve drifted, gone silent, or feel spiritually numb. Maybe you’re carrying embarrassment or exhaustion you haven’t named yet. God isn’t asking for a performance. He’s asking for presence. “Where are you?” is the beginning of restoration because healing always starts with honesty. Before God pulls you forward, He meets you exactly where you are, even if that place feels messy, ugly, confusing, embarrassing, you name it, He is right there with you…right now. So, where are you?

BEARING

God pursues you even when you’re hiding.

Prayer

Lord, draw me out of the places where shame keeps me small, stuck, or silent. Thank you for meeting me right where I am at and loving so freaking much!
